JUVÉDERM™

One of the newest Hyaluronic Acid based skin dermal fillers is JUVÉDERM. This jelly –like material comes in single use 1cc syringes is ideal for enlargement of the lips and filling of the ”smoker’s“ lines around the mouth. It is also a reasonable choice for filling in the nasolabial lines (between the side of the nose and the corner of the lip), and the Marionette lines (between the corner of the lips and the chin).

The smoothness of the skin filler makes injection easier than with some other materials. It typically lasts between six months to nine months before the procedure needs to be repeated. Since the JUVÉDERM has some local anesthetic mixed in with the product, it usually does not require a separate local anesthetic injection and is rather painless.

This material does not require the massage needed with other skin fillers. After effects tend to be minor; only a little bruising and swelling for a day or so, at most.

In my experience most patients need two or more syringes for a visible effect.

This is the most difficult part of the procedure for any skin filler! How much filler is needed to give an improvement depends on your perception of the depth of the lines, the improvement that you wish for, my perception of the depth, what a pleasing aesthetic result is in both our views, safety of the amounts injected and of course the economic cost / benefit.
